Reasons Dental Clinic Design Matters and 3 Modern Concepts to Choose Among

Remember the days of the gloomy, overly sterile dental clinic? Luckily, those days are over.

Dental clinic interior design today focuses on a lot more than mere cleanness. Colour schemes, furniture and decorations are chosen to facilitate the job of the staff but to also get patients feeling comfortable and relaxed on premises.

This is the main reason why Singapore dental clinic designs have become much more colourful and inviting over the past years. Spacious waiting areas, multimedia and other forms of entertainment are often integrated in the interior to educate those who wait and give them something pleasant to observe before an appointment.

Why Dental Clinic Interior Design Is So Important

Dental clinic interior design matters for a number of obvious reasons. In addition, it can contribute to some less direct benefits that are also worth exploring.

Good interior design allows for impeccable hygiene, the easy maintenance of premises and effortless mobility. Dental professionals should have immediate access to important tools and supplies. In addition, stellar cleanliness needs to be very easy to introduce.

Interior design is also an important branding element. It reveals a lot about the clinic, its philosophy towards the provision of dental care and patient services. Interior design in a retail space can say a lot, especially when a first-time visitor comes inside the clinic. Is this clinic ready to introduce innovation for the purpose of better service provision? Does it stick to best practices in the realm of dental care (a fact that can be hinted through the selection of classic, sophisticated design)? Are the premises child and family-friendly?

Last but not least, interior design can put a patient-centric approach forward. After all, the patient is the core of every dental clinic’s operation. Getting patients feeling comfortable and at ease right off the bat ensures more pleasant interactions for all parties involved. It’s not far-fetched to claim that well-thought out design and space planning can build trust and get visitors in the mood for a productive, beneficial interaction.

Every single clinic interior design element makes a statement. It demonstrates attention to detail, care, professionalism. Obviously, there are many ways to configure the interior space. Choosing one or the other depends on the size of the clinic, the overall brand message and of course – on the renovation budget.

If you’re looking forward to freshening up your clinic’s interior and making use of new trends, we recommend contacting an experienced office and retail interior design company.

Dental clinic design comes with its specifics. A single element that’s out of place can interfere with everyday workflows and turn into a major annoyance. Also, it’s crucial to choose the right materials and to carry out professional spatial planning. An interior design company like SORDC can handle all of these elements, giving you an outcome in line with your needs and your vision.

Based on our experience and the work we’ve done through the years, we can recommend three trendy interior design styles that are perfectly suited to most dental clinics.

Classic Elegance

Dental Clinic in West Coast Singapore

We did discuss classic, timeless interior design briefly in the previous section. There’s a reason why such clinic décors will remain evergreen. The selection of superior materials and an overall clean execution speak of sophistication and premium services.

Here’s an actual example of a classic and elegant interior design upgrade we carried out. The Dental Clinic in West Coast Singapore is housed in a space that originally contained two storefront units. We created those seamlessly together to create a roomy reception area and waiting room, an X-ray room, four consultation and treatment rooms, a sterilisation and a storage area.

For an amazing first impression, we used a large marble slab at the front of the reception.  Angular turns and passages add depth to the design and also ensure effortless movement control to the various functional areas within the clinic.

Contemporary Chic

If classic isn’t the best way to go, contemporary and bright would definitely add a ton of personality to a dental clinic’s interior design.

The Toothfully Yours office renovation is an excellent example of the modern and contemporary design trend within healthcare facilities.

We had the privilege of working on this dental clinic’s interior design from scratch. As a result, we enjoyed a lot of freedom in terms of every element.

Arc doorways and curved lines (for example – those on the reception area) make the design flaw seamlessly. We also selected comfortable seating and furniture in bright colours to bring a sense of cheer into the waiting area.

Additional warmth has been introduced through the rose gold light fixtures above the reception area and the overall selection of lighting. To ensure practicality in everyday operations, we chose curtains over a door for the separation of the reception area from the sterilisation room.

Needless to say, the same bright design has been taken to the treatment areas through the utilisation of a similar colour scheme.

Calm Minimalist

The calm minimalist style dominates dental clinic design right now because it makes a lot of sense. While serenity is the main focus, such designs also have a lot of personality that can be introduced through various elements.

We’ve chosen to present two examples of calm minimalist projects that we’ve worked on in the past.

Natural materials like wood, neutral tones and pastels all work together to create a zen atmosphere for the benefit of the patient. Once again, comfort in the waiting areas is a primary focus to get visitors feeling at ease immediately.

Pops of colour are sparse but effective. A bright, turquoise sofa or a beautiful logo mounted on the wall behind the reception area give the design a bit of much-needed distinctiveness. These little touches keep minimalist, Scandinavian design from becoming bland on generic. Such touches, however, have to be chosen strategically in order to work harmoniously with the rest of the design.

Calm minimalism can also be achieved through the introduction of the right lighting in both the waiting area and the treatment rooms. Cove lighting creates more depth inside the space and maximises serenity. Such lights work really well against a white backdrop, making each area appear larger and roomier than it actually is.

These three styles are just a small selection of what’s possible in the realm of dental clinic design right now.

Choosing the right colours, décor and furnishings will help you stand out from the competition and build rapport with patients. For the purpose, you should never leave dental clinic design to chance.
